Canada Visa Requirements

Depending on your country of residence, if you want to visit Canada, you may need to apply for a Canadian visa.
  • If you are on the list of countries whose people require a visa for Canada, then you need to apply for a Canadian visa. The type of Canadian visa you require is determined by the purpose and length of your trip. For example, if you wanted to visit Canada, you'd require a Temporary Visitor Visa. A Student Visa would be required if you wished to study.

What Are the Required Documents for a Canada Visa?

Here are the documents required for a Canada visa :

Age

The criteria may change depending on whether the applicant is an adult (above the age of 18) or a minor (17 or under). Only adults can be principal candidates on an application. Minors must be listed as dependents.

There are distinct regulations for minors traveling alone. (See the visa requirements for children below).

Passport

You must have a valid passport and any other necessary travel documents. When applying for a Canadian visa, you must submit photocopies of your passport’s information page. It must include the following:

When applying for a Canadian visa, you must first get an Application Package from the IRCC website. There includes an instructional guide, a document checklist, and all of the forms you must complete and submit.
You must submit all of the papers and forms on the checklist. These documents include (but are not limited to) passport copies, photographs, fee receipts, and other forms of identification.

Different nations may require additional papers in addition to those provided on the IRCC’s checklist. You must check with the visa office in your country to see whether you require any further documentation.

Photocopies of your identity and civil status documents must be included with your Canada visa application. Birth certificates, marriage certificates, and divorce/annulment certificates are examples of such documents.

You may be asked to submit National IDs or family or household registers in some situations.

For additional information, please contact the visa office in your country.

Police clearances

You must demonstrate that you have no prior criminal history and are not a risk to Canadian society. You can accomplish this by acquiring a police certificate or clearance in your native country.

In rare situations, you may be required to show police clearances from any country where you have lived for more than six months.

Medical exam

To acquire a Canadian visa, you must be in good health. In order to show so, you may be needed to undertake a medical examination and provide the results in your application.

A medical test is normally not required if you plan to remain for less than six months unless you will be working directly with people.

Your regular doctor, however, will be unable to complete the checkup. A Panel Physician will be required.

Panel Physicians for each nation are listed on the IRCC website.
